The significance of the bronze is its materiality and origin. A metal of value, and historically for making coins and weapons, which created political boundaries. I selected it because of its origin deep under the darkened ground this metal is the strongest and most resilient in this space. Phenomenologically grounded and weighted, the bronze is solid and yet the bowl shape is permeable. The controlled melting of the metal summoned an imaginary cauldron in an alchemic sense, mimicking ancient volcanic lava reacting to the cold air rendering spatiality and temporality.
